Do we want to do this?

You know those news banner runners you see going across the bottom of TV stations.
Here's one I saw this morning on MSNBC:

"The ethics panel at a New York Hospital has approved uterus transplants. Donor to be removed after recipient gives birth."

What does this mean?

Rob,
Thank you for stopping by and clearing this up. No doubt it was a simple clerk/typist error which led me to believe there was some type of siamese twin looking arrangement going on.
They don't seem to be prepared to do one of these transplants anytime soon. So far they have harvested 8 uterus's from deceased organ donors..the biggest problem being that they've only been able to keep the uteruses sustainable for 12 days, so they probably won't be reusable, thus the extraction after birth.
Such an operation is expected to cost $ 500,000.

I too heard the news on BBC Jip. also that the first Test-tube baby has become a mother, in Bristol, England. Though the newly-born baby is small than average.
